Hands-On Training
The NECA-IBEW Electrical JATC offers a three-year Residential Construction apprenticeship program that combines both on the job and related classroom training.
If accepted into the apprenticeship program, apprentices must complete a minimum of 4,800 on the job training hours before becoming a Residential Wireman. Apprentices are also required to complete three years of school; classes are at the NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center.
A general description of work on the job includes:
- Wiring of outlets in single and multiple family residences
- Wiring services, meters and distribution
- Wiring and servicing appliances
- Remodeling of residential buildings
- Installation of music, intercom systems and antennas
- Wiring and servicing electric heat systems
- Wiring and servicing air conditioning systems
